Navigating the Location page

The Location page displays your fleet in context of the assets’ most recently reported locations in the map. It also provides controls for sorting assets by location - last reported time, asset ID, and serial number. This page streamlines the workflow to understanding asset locations.

Note – The message below the map displays the number of assets that are not sending their information out of the total number of assets in the fleet that are equipped to report their locations. These assets are excluded from the map.

Inspecting assets

In the Location page, select Inspect Assets to see a split view of the map and the assets. In the Inspect Assets list, a color band indicates the asset's status or fuel remaining.

  • Sort the assets by Location - Last Reported Time (default), Asset ID, or Serial Number.
  • Desktop users can select an asset and its position is highlighted on the map. Or select an asset marker on the map and its details are highlighted in the list. For mobile users, Inspect Assets provides a list view.
  • Select Dashboard to view asset-specific information. See Viewing asset details.
  • Select Details to see the asset's location details in a specified date range. See Viewing asset location details.

Viewing clusters

When you select a cluster, Location displays only the assets in the cluster on the map. This feature enables you to view asset-specific details using Inspect Assets. It also provides standard mapping tools (see Using mapping tools). From the info window, you can see the filtered list in the Fleet List view and by selecting Zoom to Cluster:

  • Fleet List displays a list of the assets in the selected cluster in the Fleet Summary. If there is no Cluster filter, Fleet List displays all assets.
  • Zoom to Cluster zooms into the assets in the selected cluster and centers the map view to the cluster in Location.

To return to the full fleet view, clear the Cluster filter.

Using mapping tools

  • Search Location: Search for a geographic location (such as a ZIP or Postal Code, city name, airport code, etc.) to center the map on the location. The system offers suggested locations based on the characters you enter in the Search Location field. You must enter two characters before the system can provide suggested locations in a drop-down list, from which you can select the desired location.
  • Where applicable, the asset's location in an info window is a hyperlink, which provides directions from your current location to the asset using your default navigation software in a separate browser window. This feature is helpful for sending technicians to service assets due for maintenance in addition to assets reporting fault codes, critical fluid analysis sample results, and inspections results that need attention.

  • Map: You can change the map type to Terrain, Satellite, or Hybrid.
  • Common mapping functions such as pan and zoom work similarly within VisionLink. For mobile users, double-tap and pinch gestures zoom the map; a dragging gesture pans the map.
